Rethink, Reuse, Reward

I am trying a new tradition this year.  I hate how quickly we transition from Halloween to Christmas, forgetting all about Thanksgiving.  So, in order to not forget to give thanks for all that I already have, I have decided to not buy anything new this whole month, at least up til Thanksgiving day.
Rules 1.  THINK of creative ways to do activites with my daughter with things already in the home.  Thanks to pinterest we have already enjoyed "making volcanoes", painting monet's in the bathtub with coolwhip and food coloring, made felt stories and number games as well as baked healthy chips.  Sometimes I get stuck in the same old routine, but this has helped me enjoy play time more.
           2.  REUSE. As I collect papertowel rolls and anything cardboard I have tried to find ways to recycle old items however I can.  I am still finding ways to reuse my paper grocery bags, will try to post final projects.
           3.   REWARD.  I can't help but treat myself for actually doing this, as I never go one week without wanting to buy something.  But, this is the incentive.  I have planned to treat myself by spending a specific amount on Black Friday, the only day I can spend money.
GOAL: To truly remember how grateful I am for what I have been given, as joy comes from enjoying what you have.  This will hopefully jump start me into the Spirit of Christmas as well.

chantel! i completely understand that you can only write when your kiddos are napping. remi is getting better at letting me on the computer for short periods of time. he used to bite my leg whenever i sat down and it didn't include him. that wasn't a fun phase and i think we're getting to the end of that. yay! hope all is well over there in portland. sorry we didn't make it to seattle this summer - it's a bit of a drive (5 hours) and we always seem to have a million projects to work on around here. i didn't get to do any hiking this summer except when we went to visit our families. :( anyhow, here's my address. send me yours as well!
