Stop and Smell the Roses

We had a picnic Saturday near the Rose Gardens in Portland. There were 150 different roses, in all colors, crowding down rows along the hillside. We walked among the many smelling them and picking our favorites. My favorite was this orange with pink-tipped bud and I found Reed inhaling the petals of the roses that smelled of lilacs. To add to the already beaufiful area, there was a harp playing in the back of the garden...quite calming.
We also discovered glow in the dark croquet this weekend. Even after a full day of light on the newly painted balls and pegs, I still had to shine my flashlight on the ball of the player that was up to play. The light came and went in seconds. That didn't stop Christy and I from beating the guys. My strategy was to become poison, far in advance of any of the guys. What the guys called luck, and I call skill, happened to be a DOMINATION by the girls that night, with or without the light.
Reed and I did ice cream sculpting for date night too. Reed's creativity proved to win us the best sculpture, with a volcano of root beer flowing out of our ice cream volcano, onto our ice cream village. Christy and Dallin decided to recreate the Colloseum in a delicious form. Both sculptures were not half as good until they became root beer floats...the best things EVER.
