26.2 MILES

I did it.  After 4 months of sort-of-training I finally ran the St. George Marathon this weekend.  I can't say I was the best prepared, having only been able to train with a few 15 mile runs, but I was still able to finish by five hours.   If anything, I realize now that I can do anything I put mind to.  Last year I wouldn't have EVER imagined I would have the stamina to do this.
We started the race at 7:00am in Snow Canyon and I was feeling really good the first 10 miles.  The first thing to go out was my left knee-which has been bothering me for a while now.  My friend Alicia's knee was in pain too so we had to slowly pace ourselves up the rigorous hill.  Most of my thanks goes to the Bengay I grabbed from the water station and the ibuprofen I took during the run.  By the 17th mile I had all my energy back and seemed to be doing well.  It wasn't until that last mile, the one that seems the longest, that I wondered if I had enough energy to get across the line. Yet, the moment I saw an older lady trying to pass me I peeled out of there...didn't know I had anything left :)
Now I am looking for my next big adventure...what shall it be?

That is awesome! Good job. Next, take on a triathalon :) I'm doing one in November, kind of out of the blue, but it'll be fun!
